Sanayi

The “Sanayi” (pronounced “sánáyee”) is an industrial quarter with a vast range of workshops available in every Turkish town.  It is a fantastic place to go to get most things done – from carpentry jobs to engine overhauls, all types of metal work to canvas workshops - there is someone there that can do your job. You have to get a taxi there and explore for yourself around the maze of workshops until you find the one which suits you. Each workshop represents a specialist and the Turks are very good at making do and mending – occasionally just what is needed in an emergency.
