F.K.G. Yacht Rigging & Marine Fabrication
Established some 33 years ago - with everyone involved being experts in their field - few people anywhere can match the 'real time' knowledge and rigging expertise of F.K.G Rigging.
Having built strong relationships with the world's major spar manufacturers; with cold heading up to -170 - there are no limitations to the size of rig they can pull and, with adjacent deep-water quay access, no rig is too big!
A specialist hydraulics department provides expertise in working with such systems as Reckmann, Lewmar, Rondal, Kobelt, Eaton and Navtec. (see 'Hydraulics' section in this chapter for full details)
F.K.G are agents for every rigging hardware manufacturer in the world and have a machine shop which can produce any custom fabrication request. Their lathe has a huge 4.125" shaft capacity, vertical and horizontal milling machines and stock a range of solid stainless up to 5”, solid aluminium to 8” and Delrin to 8” (with larger sizes available on request). Two portable TIG welders enable the technicians to do jobs ‘in-situ too.
Running rigging and lines from their huge range include Gleistein ropes and heavy duty dock lines in a large selection of different construction and colours (up to 40mm in stock). Offering possibly the largest stock of hi-tech ropes Caribbean-wide, F.K.G can supply specialist light weight high-strength tender tow lines for motor yachts.
Specifically for cranes and davits, F.K.G stock SS non-rotating crane wire up to 12mm, and can custom make crane cables, slings and bridles. All high load applications can be verified and tested on the certified pull test machine at forces of up to 150,000 lb. Computer controlled engraving on metals and plastics is a further service offered.
The following quote from the captain of a 40m St. Barth’s Bucket contender sums up the F.K.G services well :
- “Brilliant on all facets of rigging and mechanical engineering… Rock stars of anything technical throughout the entire Caribbean.”
