Running alongside a stretch of the old river course between the city and the port is the amazing City of Arts and Sciences. This astoundingly ambitious and architecturally exciting project, houses the largest sculptural / educational complex in Europe today. To admire the architecture alone is worthy of a visit. The centre is comprised of five separate buildings; the science museum, the oceanographic centre, the hemispheric IMAX film centre, the ‘Umbracle’ (a spectacular garden promenade) and the Palau de les Artes, set to become one of the most important opera houses in the world.
