The America’s Cup J Class Regatta, Bermuda

Caroline Blatter

The America's Cup J Class Regatta has to be one of the highlights on this year's sailing Superyacht circuit! With 3 days of racing on either side of The America's Cup Match Presented by Louis Vuitton: Weekend 1, 7 magnificent Official J Class yachts lined up for these five historical races in the turquoise waters off Bermuda's North Shore. Images abound of these yachts with their race perfect professional crew & owners on onboard, none other than these superb action shots from StudioBorlenghi!

The results are in & it was a seriously close finish on a compact course! The regatta title was almost in Hanuman's hands, but after being given a penalty for rule infringement on the approach to the last buoy, Lionheart was now in contention for an overall win and capitalised, an aim they have worked so hard for over the last three years!

Second overall was shared between Hanuman and one of the oldest J's in the fleet, 84 year old Velsheda, whose huge smiles as they returned to the dock said it all!

The historical fleet was joined by the newest and longest modern J, Svea J-S1 at 143 ft - who is just out of Vitters Shipyard.
Well done to all the crew, but most importantly THANK YOU to the owners of these 7 beautiful Official J Class yachts, whose passion, energy and love of sailing keeps the spirit & images of these classic elegant yachts alive for us all to enjoy for years to come.
