Expedition Cruising Across Vanuatu’s Island Chain

Cruising Vanuatu by Superyacht

Vanuatu offers a distinctive South Pacific cruising experience across a volcanic island chain of remote anchorages, kastom culture, WWII history and expedition-style cruising. From Efate and Port Vila to Espiritu Santo, Tanna, Pentecost and the outer islands, the destination rewards yachts looking beyond conventional marina-led itineraries. Highlights include Santo diving, Million Dollar Point, active volcanic landscapes and cultural events such as Pentecost land diving, traditionally held between April and June.

Vanuatu works well for yachts seeking a memorable South Pacific stop between Fiji, New Caledonia, Australia or New Zealand. Owners and guests can combine diving, cultural visits and remote island cruising, while captains and yacht managers benefit from practical yacht support, itinerary planning and access to provisioning, fuel and agency assistance in Port Vila. Luganville is also useful for northern cruising and Espiritu Santo logistics, subject to clearance planning and local advice.

International Access

Bauerfield International Airport in Port Vila is the main international gateway and can handle private / non-scheduled flights. Santo/Pekoa and Tanna/Whitegrass are also listed as airports of entry, with prior arrangement required.
