From the Bridge to the Survey: Caribbean Yacht Surveys Brings Two Decades of Experience Ashore
Caribbean Yacht Surveys (CYS) is officially launching in Guadeloupe, bringing independent marine surveying, technical consultancy and yacht project support to owners, captains and yacht managers across the Caribbean and beyond.
The venture launches under the Guadeloupe Yacht Concierge (GYC) ecosystem, drawing on the island’s highly regarded and experienced yacht agency and giving CYS access to a trusted local network and support from day one.
A great surveyor needs more than technical knowledge - they need to understand life at sea. With nearly 20 years of professional yachting experience, CYS brings that first-hand insight to independent marine surveying, technical consultancy and yacht project support.

From new-build specification and build oversight to inspections, quality control, sea trials and final handover, CYS provides independent representation with one goal: ensuring every vessel meets its agreed specification and the practical demands placed upon it.
At CYS, the objective remains the same: independent oversight, clear communication and practical marine experience, always applied in the client’s best interests.
The Experience Behind CYS
Leading the technical side of the business is Jean Groenewald, Marine Surveyor and Technical Manager, whose qualifications include MCA Master 200 / OOW 500 and RYA Yachtmaster Instructor status. Jean has completed professional surveying training through Lloyd’s Maritime Academy and holds affiliations with SCMS and IAMCS.
That same depth of experience runs through Guadeloupe Yacht Concierge, the CYS launch partner. GYC is a trusted, well-established name in Guadeloupe and across the Caribbean, bringing the same values of reliability and independence that define CYS and making the two a natural fit from the outset.

Why Independence Matters
A yacht is a complex asset, and whether somebody is purchasing an existing vessel, undertaking a major refit or investing in a new build, they need independent representation from somebody who understands the vessel as a complete operational platform.
A yacht is never just a collection of parts. Systems interact, build quality counts, and what looks fine on paper doesn’t always hold up to operational demands. That’s why independence and impartiality sit at the heart of CYS’ approach.
Based in Guadeloupe but not limited to the Caribbean, the team follows the client and vessel wherever in the world the assignment takes them.
Whether it’s a pre-purchase survey, a refit that needs an extra pair of experienced eyes, or representation on a new-build project, Caribbean Yacht Surveys is ready to help.
