Head of Marketing, Joscelyn O’Keefe, emphasized the marina's role in sustainable tourism, given its location at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. “This certification highlights our dedication to protecting the environment and promoting responsible boating. Sustainability remains central to our operations as we encourage ‘travel for good.’”

Ecotourism Australia CEO, Elissa Keenan, praised the achievement as a milestone for the industry, noting the marina's contribution to the region’s 38 ECO Certified operators and its role in preserving Australia’s vast marine resources.

Sustainable Tourism Certification, assessed through Ecotourism Australia’s rigorous standards, evaluates environmental, cultural, socio-economic, and operational sustainability. Coral Sea Marina integrates initiatives like the Coral Sea Academy, citizen science programs, and green boating guides, while honoring the Birri-Gubba Nation’s cultural heritage.
