Commodore Theatre

Overview

The Commodore is a period ‘Art Deco style’ theatre, located at 421 High Street, Olde Towne, Portsmouth – “thoroughly well recommended for an unforgettable cinema and ‘night out’ experience.”

The walls of the theatre and lobby are adorned with wonderful 20-40ft ornate murals with opulent chandeliers made from Italian leaded crystal; the seating in the main floor dining area is arranged around individual tables. On each table is a house phone. You can pick up the phone and order drinks or an evening meal to accompany your movie. Everything is then brought straight to your seat by the house staff!

The Commodore specializes in screening first run films and they have a large ‘state of the art’ screen with THX digital sound system. It really feels like you are in a different world comfortably seated soaking up the atmosphere - takes the ‘dinner and movie’ concept to another level!
