Overview
The museum is a small but interesting little haven which harbours some of the delights of Bequia’s maritime history, together with a fine collection of model boats crafted by Lawson Sargeant. These include a quite remarkable model of a traditional double-ended Bequia Whaler, for which the island is famed, and a very intricate and faithful model of one of the J Class yachts.
Old black and white photos of the oldest schooners built in Bequia from the 1930s to 1985 are on display; together with some photo documentation of the Queen of England’s first visit to Bequia in 1985 – whereupon Lawson Sargeant presented her with a replica of her own Royal Yacht, Britannia.
