Sugar Ridge Resort Hotel

Sugar Ridge Resort is tucked away on a hillside overlooking Valley Church and Jolly Harbour Marina. It is a popular get-away for yacht captains and crews (owing to an array of wonderful facilities) – with 60 rooms, all complete with fabulous views. The ground floor rooms have private plunge pools, and there are a number of private luxury villas with pools further up the hill.

Carmichael’s is their open-air fine dining restaurant and bar, serving Caribbean and international cuisine with seasonal variations – much of the produce is grown in their kitchen garden. Literally above all, Sugar Ridge has stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and neighbouring islands. When it’s full moon, the resort hosts a creative ‘jam’ that features ‘irie’ vibes and ital food – around their beautiful fireball, which was crafted by renowned Caribbean artist Aragorn.

Sugar Club features two pools, pool deck, restaurant (venue for breakfast, lunch and dinner; also hosts some of the best cultural events on island), piano bar, and approximately 6,000 sq. ft. of spa and an impressive and well-equipped gymnasium – memberships are available. The spa is the only Aveda Concept Spa in the Eastern Caribbean offering a variety of treatments and services (massages, facials, manicures and pedicures), as well as a retail store selling a range of Aveda products.

Sugar Ridge is also home to The Shed, an open-air hilltop yoga platform, which (in conjunction with Yoga Antigua) offers the widest range of yoga on island – arguably the most magical yoga setting in the Caribbean.

The resort is only a five-minute drive from several beaches, and the hotel offers a complimentary open-top Land Rover ride if you wish to visit. Sugar Ridge is definitely a must – after a long voyage or just to get away from English Harbour!

Carmichael’s Restaurant

Carmichael’s at Sugar Ridge Hotel is their open-air fine dining restaurant and bar serving Caribbean and international classics - with seasonal variations and produce from their own kitchen garden. With stunning views of the Caribbean Sea and neighboring islands, Carmichael’s décor is chic with exotic hardwoods and shutters, and contemporary furnishings. On Sundays they have a chillout lunch with small plates and deejay; at full moon, there is a creative jam with ‘irie vibes’ and ital food around their beautiful fireball – which was crafted by renowned Caribbean artist Aragorn.

Sugar Club comes well recommended by crewmembers as ‘the’ place to be for New Year’s Eve and other special occasions. The restaurant is the venue for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with entertainment on certain nights and some of the best cultural events held on the island. The restaurant and bar setting is informal and chic. Dining choices - indoors with A/C or outdoors on covered verandas. Open daily from 0700–2200hrs.

Sugar Club offers a high class level of entertainment on certain nights, and some of the best cultural events held on the island. Sugar Club is definitely ‘the place to be!’

Sugar Club Gym

Sugar Club, located just five minutes away from Jolly Harbour Marina, is home to around 6,000sq.ft of spa and gymnasium. This fully air-conditioned gym has 32 pieces of Cybex equipment, with free weights too. It is the best hotel gym we have seen! Memberships are also available, which allows full use of the swimming pool areas and 10% discount off all spa treatments. Open from 0600 - 2100hrs daily.

Aveda Concept Spa

The Spa at the Sugar Ridge Resort is the only concept Spa in the Eastern Caribbean -with 4 treatment rooms, signature massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and a salon / retail store selling your favourite Aveda products. Located near Jolly Harbour, it comes highly reviewed by several crewmembers we spoke with last season.
