Marine Power Services (MPS) are located between English and Falmouth Harbours (just off the road to the right, towards Cobbs Cross). Business owners Steve & Janetta Miller continue to expand their work capabilities in order to facilitate their ever-growing loyal market clientele. Beyond mechanical services, they also offer dedicated container storage, on casted foundations, for 40 ft containers @ US $100 per week, and US $65 per week for 20ft containers. Electricity is available at an extra cost.
Steve himself, is an ex yacht engineer and Captain, with over 25 years in Antigua (and many sea miles under his belt before that). Over the years, MPS have remained in the fore, primarily by keeping up to date with all the latest systems technology / practices, and by their ever positive 'can do' attitude for fulfilling their customer’s requirements. The MPS technical staff continue to expand their ongoing training courses, and the company are authorised dealers for Northern Lights, Caterpillar and Yanmar.
Due to their excellent ‘trade credibility’, they carry out ongoing warranty works for new builds, along with a number of Shipyards, that include Royal Huisman, Nautor and Oyster. Their reputation for high quality stainless and aluminium fabrication continues to grow, and complex shapes are frequently being bent, rolled, cut, welded, turned and milled. For these works, they stock a comprehensive amount of stainless and aluminium, bronze, titanium and bearing plastics. They also carry out custom fabrication including fixed frame stainless steel biminis; and are happy to undertake any custom job one might require, including exhaust systems complete with custom lagging and any 'on board' welding (for which they have a portable TIG welder, and carry specific stocks of welding elbows / flanges etc).
MPS also perform well in the field of hydraulics, looking after vangs, cylinders, backstays, steering pumps etc; and recognising this as an ever growing facet of engineering, now stock a good inventory of stainless fittings in both metric and imperial sizes, plus large amounts of Shell Tellus hydraulic oils. Beyond this, MPS will source any other ‘hard to find’ mechanical spares and also offer an oil disposal service. Duty Free oil is supplied and delivered from their bonded warehouse.
We have continued to receive consistently good Captain's feedback for them over the past years; and a number of Captains quotes, tell the story well: “MPS saved us by fixing our forestay furling the day before the start of the RORC 600… completed the job at 11pm at night!” “We had a serious problem with our main engine, and were under real pressure with Charter guests about to arrive… but MPS were real stars by getting the whole thing back ‘up and running’ – just in time!” “For the past 4 yachts I’ve run, MPS have always provided me with a first class level of service, to the point that we now make Antigua our base for the Caribbean season… in the knowledge of always having them close at hand” “Great service, on a complete main engine rebuild” “The company above the rest, is Steve Miller’s MPS in Antigua… quite possibly the most efficient company we’ve used in the Caribbean!”
Welding / Fabrication
The highly respected Marine Engineering outfit, Marine Power Services (MPS), also have a renowned reputation for delivering high quality stainless and aluminium welding & fabrication works. They have a well tooled workshop complete with large lathes, milling machines, benders, TIG and MIG welding capabilities - and they offer works from shaft straightening & welding repairs right through to high grade ‘Superyacht finish’ custom fabrications.
MPS also have an excellent reputation for producing high quality fixed frame stainless biminis, and beyond this, will take on any custom job that is required including exhaust systems and custom bearing fabrications. Captain’s feedback confirms their excellent service standards, as follows: “MPS saved us by fixing our forestay furling the day before the start of the RORC 600… completed the job at 11pm at night!” “MPS – High standard of works with good depth of experience.”
