Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard is also host and organizer for the Newport Charter Yacht Show, scheduled in June every year. 

The Shipyard sits on 14 acres and features a paint shed and workshops fitted out with the latest technology and machinery. Local onsite craftsmen offer talent and experience in carpentry, paint refinishing, welding / fabrication, mechanical and electrical works.

Crew are well looked after: onsite amenities include fitness center, ship store, courtesy golf carts, crew housing, ample parking for marina guests, and free Shipyard-wide Wi-Fi.
The ship store carries everything from paints, cleaning products, filters, sailing gear, sunglasses and sundries. It also provides access to an extensive list of chandlery items through a large directory of marine vendors.

Adjacent is the ever popular Belle’s Café, featuring an open air grill serving breakfast & lunch daily. 
Crew favorites include the ‘Slammin’ Shipyard Sandwich’ and the ‘Twin Lobster Rolls’… which are always popular in the summer months with outdoor seating overlooking the waterfront.

Marina

Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard can accommodate yachts to 350ft LOA with 22ft draft, equipped with single and 3 phase power up to 400 amps / 480v, water, pump out and Wi-Fi at each berth. 

Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard features a complete list of amenities that include Belle's Cafe, complimentary WiFi, a fitness center, showers, laundry facilities, courtesy vehicles, and courtesy golf carts.

Onsite Belle’s Café offers delicious breakfast and lunch daily or quick coffee / tea / bread. They also work in conjunction with Casey’s for fuel deliveries via truck (100+ gallons) or barge (500+ gallons). General Manager Eli Dana and his team have gone to great lengths to make Newport Shipyard an active yard / marina that is as enjoyable for crew as it is for guests.

Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard has full-time employees to maintain the facilities, handle dock lines and clean up the docks - “While we are the oldest yard on the Newport waterfront, you won’t find a cleaner, more modern or more secure shipyard and marina in New England,“ said Eli Dana. Ship Store

Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard has an onsite chandlery and ship store and parts sourcing department located adjacent to Belle’s Café, which carries a large selection of cleaning products, hardware, paint, embroidered apparel, sailing gear, flip flops, belts, sunglasses and more.

A very helpful department when sourcing parts not normally stocked on site, as they can often order it and have it delivered to the boat the following day. They have a vast network of suppliers and marine vendors for any ‘hard-to-find’ items. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, running an efficient and organized shipping department for boats and crew. Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard apparel and outerwear is hugely popular amongst the marine crowd and they now carry a wide selection of tops, fleece, belts, hats, canvas totes, eyewear and even clothing for the little ones. During the summer, the ship’s store stays open 7 days a week.

Carpentry

We received many high recommendations for Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard’s in-house carpentry department. These experienced carpenters are familiar with the widest range of materials, joinery methods and new technologies, doing excellent work on-site. They can handle any size job, from refit works to restoration and repairs.

Mechanical Engineering

Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard’s in-house marine mechanic/machine and engineering shop have been serving the needs of yachts for years and are well recommended for their high quality work. 

They are capable of complete complex installations of power generators and electrical equipment, shore power and converters. Electrical surveys that determine any necessary repairs, modifications, rewiring or upgrades, are one of the many professional services they provide.

Painting & Varnishing Contractors

Safe Harbor Newport Shipyard's paint shop was well recommended by another round of Captains this past year. Experienced in all types of products and applications of paint finishes, as well as all surface preparation techniques; the paint crew is equipped to work on large or small projects using Sea Hawk, Quantum, Pettit, Interlux, Alexseal, and Awlgrip paint products. They are also capable of topside blends, buff outs, varnishing, corrosion repairs / fairing, which are all part of the paint / refinishing services they offer.

Bottom preparation and anti-fouling to ‘race-ready’ levels are also available upon request. Their fiberglass specialists are also experts in ‘vacuum bagging’ and fiberglass repairs and touch ups.
