The New Zealand Millennium Cup

15th February – 18th February 2021

The most southerly Superyacht regatta in existence, the New Zealand Millennium Cup is a celebration of good racing, great cruising grounds and exceptional hospitality.
Held in one of the world’s most stunning natural playgrounds, the Bay of Islands, it’s fast gaining a reputation as a bucket list regatta for any adventurous Superyacht - competitors battle it out for the Cup amongst the 144 islands of the Bay as dolphins and other wildlife escort them on the course.
Racing is close and fiercely competitive while on land the competition turns to camaraderie as owners and crew enjoy the best of New Zealand hospitality.

This highly successful annual Superyacht regatta is enjoyed by yacht owners, captains, crew and spectators alike, and it was SY Freya's owner who summed up the feel of the Regatta so well:
“It’s fantastic to come to this beautiful place in this beautiful country in the beautiful bay of islands. I’d like to say thank you for the hospitality and a wonderful, wonderful time.”

Peter Montgomery, MBE officiated the prize giving ceremony at the Duke of Marlborough, Russell.

As platinum sponsors Orams Marine’s managing director, Craig Park, and Royal Huisman’s sales manager, Bas Isselman presented first place to Kawil and second to Adele, thanking the entries, sponsors and organisers as they celebrated after turning the eyes of the superyacht industry to this spectacular part of the world.

“I think you’ve made this event extraordinary,” said the owner of repeat competitor, Silvertip.

“It’s a great privilege to be here - we sailed the first NZ Millennium Cup from Auckland to Kawau so it’s fantastic fun to be here in the Bay of Islands.”
