About Palau, Papua New Guinea & The Solomon Islands

Palau is an island country located in the West Pacific with a population of about 21,000 spread over 250 islands. The country was originally settled approximately 3,000 years ago by Philippine migrants and has a checked history of invasions throughout this period. Palau comes well recommended as having some of the best diving in the world! This region has become very well known amongst visiting yachts for its wonders of nature – lush tropical rainforests and pristine coral reefs with an abundance of sea life.

Papua New Guinea is an independent state occupying the eastern half of the world’s second largest island, lying to the north of Australia. The western half of New Guinea forms the Indonesian provinces of Papua and West Papua. Papua New Guinea is one of the least explored places in the world, with some 80% of people living in rural areas with few facilities of modern life. Many tribes in the isolated mountainous regions have had little contact with the outside world or with one another. There are many undiscovered species of plants and animals thought to exist in the interior. As in Palau, the coast of Papua New Guinea has some of the world’s most spectacular diving and is a paradise for underwater photographers. The water temperature varies from 25-29°C and visitors can dive all year round. Good yacht services agents are a must in these locations!

The beautiful and remote Solomon Islands are becoming increasingly popular with those yacht owners and guests who appreciate ‘off the beaten track’ cruising & diving.
