One of the world's oldest legally protected forest reserves, established on April 13th, 1776, Tobago Main Ridge was geared specifically towards a conservation purpose. Covering an area of 3958 hectares, the Main Ridge is home to hundreds of species of birds, plants, insects, reptiles and mammals, with the main trail, the Gilpin Trail being the focal point. Various operators organize trail walking and birdwatching trips.
