As you may know, Palm Island Resort & Spa suffered serious damage as a result of Hurricane Beryl on 1st July, 2024, and will be closed for an extended period of time to assess the damage and begin the rebuilding process.
Of much greater urgency is the utter devastation of nearby Union Island.
Most of Palm Island’s amazing staff and their families reside on Union Island—and all of them are now homeless and have lost everything. More than 90% of the homes on Union Island have been damaged or destroyed.
There is a Go Fund Me page to accept donations for Palm Island’s emergency relief efforts for Union Island.
Palm Island is best used as a day anchorage for large yachts or as a functional temporary anchorage for yachts that are stopping in at Clifton (Union Island) to clear in or out of SVG waters.
The ‘picture perfect’ Casuarina Beach, located on the western shores of the island, is always a great hit with guests. On a cautionary note however, this is a private island and it is necessary to phone the management of the resort to discuss any possibilities of exploring beyond the beach before arranging to put guests ashore.
