Valldemossa Village and Monastery

Probably one of the most famous places in Mallorca, the beautiful village and monastery of Valldemossa are easily accessible from the Port of Sóller. To drive this stunning route is an experience in itself! Climbing through citrus, olive and almond groves from Sóller, the coast road passes through the picturesque village of Deia.                                                             Valldemossa – dating from 1240 – has a colourful, interesting history and a monastery of repute, both in its religious past and by the pianist Chopin. Frederic Chopin rated Valldemossa as “the most beautiful place in the world.” 

Perched on the side of the dramatic Tramontana Mountains and with a view to the bay of Palma, Valldemossa came recommended by Captains as being a popular destination for owners and guests seeking a taste of the history of Mallorca in the cool of the mountains. Today, one of the region’s most famous residents, Michael Douglas was the creator of the Costa Nord Foundation, formed to promote the area throughout the world and has set up an exhibition centre in the village.
