For those of you who like to get your endorphins racing in your time off… Not too far inland can be found rafting, canyoning, hydro-speeding, karting, paragliding, bungee jumping, rafting, paint-ball, and much more! 

Biot

A medieval village dominated by mimosa and olive tree-covered hills; Biot invites the visitor to take their time to explore this famous little town. Everywhere you look there are hand carved doors, vaults, sculpted stones, sundials and ivy-covered houses. Popular with craftsmen and artists (in particular Fernand Léger whose museum is greeted by many tourists each year), Biot is also renowned all over the world for its master glass blowers. 

Fort Carré

Dating back to the second half of the 16th century, Fort Carré has seen much action over the centuries. Situated on the Saint Roch peninsula, east of the port, the Fort’s surrounding walkway has a 360-degree panoramic view. There is a 4 hectare protected park around the Fort containing typical Mediterranean flora and fauna.

La Tour Museum

This small museum in the centre of town brings the contemporary history of Antibes to life through its exhibit of costumes, tools, photographs and other objects used by the local people.

Museum Picasso

Place du Chateau, 06600 Antibes

Pablo Picasso was invited to stay in the old castle of Antibes in 1946. Over his six-month stay, Picasso painted and drew, as well as crafting ceramics and tapestries. He left a number of his works for the municipality, and this museum now houses one of the world's greatest Picasso collections. as well as works by Leger and Miro.

Napoléon à Golfe-Juan

Every first weekend in March a huge re-enactment of Napoléon’s landing in Golfe-Juan takes place, with old rigging, actors, troops, weapons and campaign equipment. The town and all of its activities take on an imperial flavour

HIKES

Head up into the back of Golfe-Juan – “Chapel de Notre-dame-des-Graces” & the “Mauruches Pathway” – for magnificent, panoramic views of the coast.

Antibes – Cap d’Antibes – Juan-les-Pins 

Leaving the Bastion, you pass Albert 1er square, before arriving at promenade Pierre Merli, then Port de la Salis. A little further on, look back at the classic view of the old town. 

For the most wonderful view, walk up to la Garoupe lighthouse, which is next to Notre Dame Chapel, the sailors' church.

The Cap has been inhabited for 150 years. During the 19th and 20th century it became more developed with luxury hotels, and the sumptuous villas of the rich and famous. 

Walk past the famous Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on toward Juan-les-Pins, passing Olivette harbour where the small, traditional, wooden sailing boats are moored.

La Garoupe Lighthouse – hike & views

A beautiful natural site within the National Woodland of La Garoupe, and managed by the municipality of Antibes, the Garoupe lighthouse (one of the most powerful lighthouses of the Riviera) stands at the top of a plateau separating Antibes from Juan les Pins. 

If you want to take a break from the beach and the busy streets of Antibes, climb the unpaved Chemin du Calvaire (on the right after the old harbor of the Salis beach). It takes about one hour to reach the summit by foot from Antibes, where one of the most spectacular panoramas of the region awaits you! The view extends from Nice to Cannes and to the backcountry of Vence and Tourette sur Loup. Before going back, take a tour of the Garoupe Chapel.

Alternatively you can drive from Boulevard du Cap to the route du Phare.

La Route Napoléon

The Route Napoleon runs from Golfe-Juan through Cannes, Grasse, Castellane, Sisteron and Gap to Grenoble. Parts of the road are windy and twisty, but all of it is quite beautiful. Rocky crags, hillsides covered with flowers, snowcapped peaks in the near distance.

After Castellane the road winds through the Nature Park of the Gorges of Verdun. Between Sisteron and Grenoble, the Alps are ever present, but the road stays low enough to travel through a chain of beautiful towns and villages. A number of statues of a flying eagle commemorate the steps of Napoléon's march – 325 kilometres - which took a whole week on foot.

Parc de la Valmasque

About 3km out to the northwest, past the auto route, the Parc de la Valmasque straddles the towns of Valbonne and Mougins. It offers an amazing variety of valleys, forests, nature observatories, 12 acres of prairie and a pond – frequented by migratory birds. 

This park has many tables and benches, playgrounds for children, hiking trails, and 8km of marked equestrian trails. 

A fitness trail (1.4km) and two running circuits (3 and 6km) are arranged on the forest sector Clausonnes.

Parc de Vaugrenier

2km up the coast (towards Nice) from the Port Vauban, the Parc de Vaugrenier has wide, hard-packed running and walking paths in the shade of its trees, and fields for playing ball.

Vallauris

Vallauris is known for its pottery – with over two hundred master potters, museums and boutiques.
