Cassis

Cassis is a charming little fishing village located only a few minutes drive west from La Ciotat, towards Marseille. One of the prettiest villages on the coast, and well worth a visit for any crew staying in La Ciotat, there are many good restaurants facing the waterfront. Cassis is overlooked by France’s highest coastal cliffs (394m) and is famous for its extraordinary Calanques; which are beautiful, sheltered inlets with crystalline water. One of the prettiest is Calanque d’En-Vau, accessible by sea or by a 90-minute walk from the car park above.

There is also a lovely walk to Cassis, which starts from behind the shipyard: La Route des Crêtes. 16km long and providing breathtaking panoramic views, walkers can admire the exceptional sights over the Bay of La Ciotat to the islands of Marseilles. Viewpoints have been laid out so visitors can stop and take in the views. It takes about 1hr 30mins to get to Cassis.
