Suquet District

Le Suquet is the old quarter of Cannes, where the ancient Romans settled on this site in 154 BC. The Rue du Suquet is the original main road into Cannes and the houses are all very old; the narrow pedestrian streets were laid out at least 400 years ago. Here you will find many excellent restaurants away from the traffic. In the 11th century the abbots of Lérins built a citadel with the now famous watchtower. The breathtaking views over Cannes itself and the Bay of Cannes are worth the walk alone, and there is delightful park in which to relax and soak up the ambience.
