Eze

Looking up from the port of Beaulieu, Eze at an altitude of 429 metres, is ‘in the gods’ way above. The ruins of a 15th century castle still crown the cliff. About a 10 minute drive is all it takes to reach this magical, medieval hill top village, with its ramparts and ‘pedestrian only’ narrow lanes and steps. When your exploration is over, take the Nietzsche pedestrian road back down to ‘Eze bord de mer’ and enjoy a swim (the descent takes about 45 mins. and the climbing from Eze Train Station takes approximately 90 mins.) The path was named after the German philosopher in memory of the affection he had for this walk between the sea and the mountain.
