Beaches

Malta has near year-round sunshine and there are beaches on the North of the island. Numerous bays along the indented coastline of the islands provide good harbours, while the landscape is characterized by low hills with terraced fields. Malta’s Mellieha Bay is the island’s largest and most popular sandy beach, whilst the beach at Golden Bay on the NW coast is fantastic. For snorkelling, a visit to the unspoilt Ghar Lapsi on the South Coast is a must.

The Blue Grotto is famous for the clarity of the water and the brilliant colours. Make a trip on the ‘daghjsa’, a traditional Maltese fishing boat.
