Old Town

Genoa's old town is a maze of narrow lanes, called ‘caruggi’, sloping up from the waterfront. Among the crowded streets are churches, grand palaces, street-corner shrines, run-down buildings, shops, bars, Genovese fast-food counters and galleries all co-existing.
