The Whaling Museum
Quick links: Contact Description Reviews
This is one of the favorite local attractions for many visitors to Nantucket, located on 13 Broad Street, not far from the ferry dock and downtown. The Museum features a 46ft sperm whale skeleton, a fully restored 1847 permaceti candle factory, as well as an expanded exhibition area and fully accessible rooftop observation deck. In the new Gosnell Hall, visitors will learn about the whale hunt and see a properly rigged whaleboat, and a vast collection of whaling tools. During the season, the Museum offers evening lectures and concerts along with a children’s program and discovery room (interactive play).
