Bannister’s Wharf was one of the first marinas in Newport - once a host for the America’s Cup Campaign –and continues to host some of the world’s most famous yachts. Bannister’s Wharf is the most coveted deep-water marina located in the center of Newport Harbor.
David Ray, the owner and local figure of Newport has done an amazing job in masterfully restoring this charming place to its former glory and nostalgic atmosphere it enjoys today. Bannister’s Wharf continues to receive excellent feedback for its location and extremely friendly and helpful dock staff.
The dockmaster, Jim McCarthy, is very service oriented. John Bannister established the Wharf in 1742 as a commercial and social lifeline for Colonial Newport and continues to do just that. This full service marina has 280ft of fixed pier as well as floating docks consisting of 30-slips that can accommodate yachts up to 280’with 16’draft.
Equipped with shore power hook up, 30 / 50 / 100 amp single-phase power, water, showers, Wi-Fi and waste water pump out are available at the berth. At the end of the wharf next to the dock office is a fuel dock, equipped with high-speed pump, providing both gas and diesel. Marina hours are 0800-2000hrs during the season, though they are very flexible on the time of any arrivals / departures, if requested.
Bannister's Wharf Guestrooms at the Marina include 8 nautically inspired guestrooms overlooking the harbor. The Candy Store Cup Superyacht Regatta, sponsored by Bannister's Wharf and Newport Shipyard takes place in Newport, RI. July 27, 28, 29 - 2017. This makes a special place for guests joining a yacht in Newport to stay. There are several restaurants located on Bannisters Wharf, including the acclaimed Black Pearl and Clarke Cooke House restaurant and bar along with exclusive high-end boutiques, galleries, coffee and ice cream shops.
