Great news from Auckland - Jacinda Arden's New Zealand Government has finally approved entry to two foreign America's Cup teams - initially American Magic & INEOS Team UK, who are waiting to send their teams in to ramp up preparations...
First America's Cup Challenger to arrive at the venue will be American Magic’s first-generation AC75 - they are keen to have shore based teams in situ so they can be out sailing by next month!
It is understood Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team will also be making an application to get their teams in too.
This is positive news indeed for the America's Cup, the Challengers, the yachting industry in the Pacific Region and New Zealand itself, who like the rest of the world struggles with the economic impact of COVID-19.
The America’s Cup Village in Westhaven and Viaduct Harbour will be the centre of the action and will offer pre booked berths to Superyachts.
The New Zealand Millennium Cup, from 15-18 February 2021 in the Bay of Islands is a firm favourite amongst owners and crew for its ‘kiwi style friendly relaxed atmosphere’, with competitive racing over & tranquil evening functions ashore, this is an event where owners, crew, guests and New Zealand’s eminent marine industry figures mingle and socialize together.
