Superyacht Regattas & Boat Shows to kick off 2019

Once again there is a thrilling programme of superyacht regattas around the world – as well as an array of international Boat Shows.
We take a look at the first 6 months of 2019...

Regattas 

30 January – 2 February:  The New Zealand Millennium Cup, Auckland

The 24.72m custom built Ammomite is the yacht to beat in this down under event, coming soon,  in what the organisers describe as one of the world's great natural playgrounds for competitive racing in a uniquely relaxed, Kiwi environment. 

 


30 January - 3 February:  Superyacht Challenge Antigua

Spectacular racing for a magnificent fleet, with daily pursuit races along the stunning south coast of Antigua. Spiip and Rebecca are expected to be back to give competitors a run for their money in the ideal conditions of the warm trade winds and ocean swell.

 

18 February: RORC Caribbean 600, Antigua   

There’s a record entry expected for this round the islands offshore race so get amongst the world’s top grand prix machines for a taste of the action.  

 

 

21 – 24 March: St Barths Bucket

One of the biggest superyacht events with over 20 entries from the world’s largest racing yachts.  Race courses are set around the beautiful Caribbean island.  Giants to watch out for include 67m Hetairos and 62m Athos.  

 

 

26 February – 3 March: Heineken Regatta SXM, St Maarten, WI

Four days of racing and a full-on waterfront social programme for all classes includes a formidable maxi fleet. Will 78ft veteran Kialoa III carry off the prize again this year or will Shipman 80 Ivanka triumph?

 

 

17 – 23 April: Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta 

Despite their ages these stunning vintage yachts just get quicker, more beautiful  and more competitive, like 72ft Ticongeroga of Greenwich, and Alfred Myle 79 Mariella, both built in 1936. Yachts like them will join in some lively racing while seeking to win the holy grail of the Concours d’Elegance.  

 

23 April – 3 May: Antigua Sailing Week  

Join in this legendary Caribbean regatta in its 52nd year, which hosts more than 100 boats including the maxis and entries over 100 ft. There’s five days of challenges for crews in a variety of coastal race courses and an action packed social programme.

 

5 - 9 June: Loro Piana Porto Cervo, Sardinia

This is a truly exclusive event for the world’s most competitive racing superyachts like the Baltic 39.6m My Song which led the fleet in 2018.  The backdrop of Sardinia’s rugged coastline complements its fabulous sailing conditions. 

 


19 - 22 June: Superyacht Cup Palma de Mallorca

The longest running superyacht event in Europe and the Mediterranean is a favourite with yacht owners and crews.  Warm early summer conditions and reliable sea breezes gives the Bay of Palma idyllic racing conditions.  

 


Shows and Events

14 - 18 February: Miami Yacht Show 

The show will be at its new Downtown location on Biscayne Bay between the Venetian and MacArthur Causeways. The in-water display of new and pre-owned vessels will showcase the world's most extraordinary and uniquely designed yachts and superyachts from the world's foremost custom boat builders.

26 Feb – 2 March: Dubai International Boat Show 

The Dubai International Boat Show is firmly established as the region’s number one marine, leisure and lifestyle industry event and the most anticipated date in the Middle Eastern marine and luxury lifestyle calendar.

11 - 14 April: Singapore Yacht Show

Now in its ninth year, the Singapore Yacht Show has become the premier boat and yacht show in Asia, significantly contributing to the development of the fast-growing ASEAN maritime and luxury lifestyle markets – and with a touch of glamour.

26 - 27 April: Australian Superyacht Rendezvous, Queensland

An event to shine an international light on the Australian superyacht industry, its capabilities and the potential.  Promoting interest in yacht chartering and ownership, revealing the true potential in Australian yachting and the greater region. 

27 April – 1 May: Palma Superyacht Show, Mallorca

The go-to show for viewing sale and charter yachts over 24 metres, Palma has a large refit and repair area and more than 80 exhibitors that provide services to the charter sector. 

30 April – 3 May: MYBA Charter Show, Barcelona

Yachts, brokers and other superyacht service companies will  flock to Port Vell for this 30th edition where visitors find some of the finest yachts available for charter.  The Chefs’ Competition places the benchmark high, the seminars are enlightening and the social calendar provides excellent networking possibilities.

8 - 11 May: The Superyacht Show, Barcelona

Still in Port Vell Barcelona, this is for anyone wanting to buy or charter a superyacht.  The exceptional private harbour in the heart of Barcelona offers a calm, relaxed and elegant setting where you can step on board a wide selection of the world’s finest superyachts. 

17 - 20 June: Newport Yacht Charter Show 

Celebrating 35 years in existence, the Newport Charter Yacht Show is a showcase of luxury charter yachts alongside a display of goods and services for the charter industry. This four-day event is dedicated exclusively to yacht charter professionals; agents, owners, brokers and captains.
