Petite Martinique
Officially under Grenadian jurisdiction, this small fishing and trading outpost enjoys a 'laissez faire' existence. Here, some lovely people are pleased to greet you to their characterful 'stress free' way of life. A quick tour of the village and its surroundings is recommended, whilst the yacht is bunkering at the B & C Fuel Dock or anchored over at PSV (just across the water). Specialist provisioning of wines and spirits came recommended at the supermarkets, as prices were said to be especially competitive on these products. Any one of a selection of friendly local Café / Bar outlets will freshly fry up some tasty seasoned local fish, for the meandering ‘passer-by’ and the whole experience, including the views outwards to the other islands is really quite stress relieving and therapeutic. The definitive health benefits of life in ‘PM’ can, perhaps, be best understood by respectfully observing the headstones in the cemetery, whereupon one realizes that the residents here often live to ‘grand old ages’ and there is no shortage of centenarians that have woven their lives on and around this charming island.
