Mustique

As a private island, Mustique is still renowned as being one of the most exclusive destinations in the Caribbean. Pristine, white sandy beaches abound – and there is usually one to be found with not another soul in sight. It is an island that has long held connections with famous people, giving it a certain 'curiosity factor' that many find hard to resist. For visiting yachts anchored in Britannia Bay, a trip around the island comes well recommended. One can either use a motorized 'Mule' (a heavy- duty golf cart), or the proper 'thoroughbred' real live version! Some guests often enjoy the opportunity to either start or conclude their yachting holiday with a break ashore; and have recommended the island's first class resort, The Cotton House, along with the upmarket and atmospheric Firefly Hotel and a selection of luxury rental villas. There are a fun range of different facilities and activities written up in the following chapter, which are well worth a read through to ensure one enjoys one's stay to the full. Finally, there is the world famous Basil's Bar... where a 'sundowner' cocktail, at the very least, shouldn't be missed! The Mustique Blues Festival (see page 882), makes a real highlight for any cruise, and came highly recommended by owners and Captains who had enjoyed it again last year.
