CREW UNIFORMS
This crew uniforms company started out some 26 years ago - and after moving from their original premises to accommodate the growing business, they found themselves doing exactly the same thing a few years back, when business once again dictated the need to expand! They are now situated in a tremendous showroom on SE 17th St (Ft. Lauderdale), from where they offer a very customer-service oriented role, supplying a huge selection of uniforms to crews all around the world. They work very hard to provide consistency in the ongoing supply of all colours and styles; to such extent that they now manufacture their own line of men's and women's shorts and trousers, plus new styles of 'skorts' and Capris (fast becoming the industry 'standard'). These are made with custom cotton stretch fabric, giving a smart / stylish appeal, and enough stretch for practicality and comfort. Indeed, these have become incredibly sought after, in their own right... and past years have seen them kitting out complete crews on numerous yachts including two with 74 and 55 crewmembers respectively. They have 3 people working full time in their shipping department... to send, follow up and track each package until it is safely on board the yacht. Company owners Helen Smallwood and Jimmy Floyd are so thoroughly committed to the business, that they travel into the Mediterranean each year, to develop and reinforce distribution contacts there. Further to which, they have now appointed Jude O'Sullivan as their European sales contact. Jude is a former Superyacht chef, based from Antibes, and is now available to ensure Smallwood's first class service is available 'first hand' to yachts in the Mediterranean as well. They also now have a sales outlet in Antigua (Lord Jim's Boutique), that service many yachts in the Caribbean (see pg. 534 for further info).

This company - based in Ft. Lauderdale - is run John and Kathy Phillips, a very friendly couple who have been in the yachting industry all their lives... love the business, and the people working in it. For the past thirteen years, they have been supplying crew uniforms to yachts all over the world - from 40' up to 250' - and have a huge catalogue of over 300 pages. They stock Sebago, Sperry, Sportif, Haley and Outerbanks products; do their own embroidery and screen printing; lots of custom logo apparel; and fabricate certain skirts and blouses themselves. 80% of their business is to repeat customers, with clothing being sent out to a port/agent for their collection. Orders can also be made on-line through their website. We picked up numerous excellent referrals for them again this past year, with the Captain of one high profile yacht saying... "Antibes Yachtwear provided us with a whole range of fantastic crew uniforms.” “We’ve dealt with Kathy for years – she’s a real star – totally reliable, and really knows how to look after her yachting clients.”
