ARC EUROPE & WORLD ARC 2008 Based upon the popular rally format of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC), ARC Europe is a cruising rally crossing the Atlantic from West to East at the end of the Caribbean season in May after Antigua Sailing week. By breaking the passage into 3 legs, yacht crews then get the opportunity to explore the wonderful islands of Bermuda and the Azores, en- route to Europe. The event has a Caribbean start from Antigua and an American start from St. Augustine in Florida - both on 8th May 2008. The two fleets then join together in Bermuda, prior to continuing their crossing to the Azores... where cruising legs between the islands ensure that as many islands as possible are visited in the time. The final leg from the Azores is split between Lagos, Portugal, and other supported cruising legs to any other Western Europe destinations. As with the ARC, a daily radio position reporting net is run, with the yachts respective positions being displayed on the rally website whilst at sea. Plenty of parties and social activities are also arranged ashore. The exciting World ARC rally sets off from St. Lucia on January 8th. 2008, heading south west to transit the Panama Canal and following on with a cruising itinerary spanning the South Pacific Islands, Australia, South Africa and Brazil.
