SAILS / CANVAS

This was a business for whom we have received the highest level of praise from numerous yachts over recent years... "They carried out a whole range of new canvas projects up on deck.. and I couldn't have wished for a better end result... excellent quality, and all on time."

The company has been owned and operated for the past 10 years, by Sandy Sturner, who has all the experience one could wish for, and employs up to 7 full time staff in-season. From their loft in Sub Base, close by Crown Bay Marina, they run a full service sail loft, and as agents for UK Sails can supply new sails and repair any make.

They offer a full range of canvas works including awnings, biminis, enclosures, dodgers, stack packs, cushions and any custom covers (having even made lizard fabrics and monkey themes, in the past!) They have five different suppliers of marine acrylics (including Sunbrella), plus numerous different suppliers of marine and upholstery fabrics. Sandy attends numerous trade shows each year, specifically to source any interesting new suppliers.

Consequently, they carry an incredibly wide stock of goods including a variety of fabulous leathers, suedes, ultra-leathers, ultra-suedes, Gore-Tex thread, stamoid vinyls, U.V.resistant zips, stainless steel fasteners and 24 karat gold plated snaps; beyond which, they have a saying that if they don't stock it... they'll find it!

Another service they have been offering for two years now is their custom replating service to restore any interior hardware, back to it's former glory (see 'Re-Plating' section for further details).

In all, this is a team that most definitely understands the needs of the Superyacht market, and they have all the skills, experience and reliable temperament to successfully serve it.

We have continued to receive some excellent reviews from Captains for this company run by Arun Keshap, who has been in sail making / repairs since 1995. From their 3200 square foot loft, they make awnings and heavily reinforced stacking sail covers; plus sell and repair sails right from Toni Tio radial Optimists, up to the largest of Superyachts. They offer the full range of racing sails using all types of hi-tech fabrics including spectra, vectran, kevlar composites and cuben fiber.

The Quantum Sail Design Group in Annapolis use wind tunnel testing, material testing and a wealth of practical experience in order to optimize their products for the cruising and racing markets, and through their network of over 60 service and production lofts, can deliver new sails anywhere, worldwide.
