RIGGING
This business is located on Sub Base Road, near Crown Bay Marina, and is run by Jay Gallagher - who has been in rigging for over 27 years, and has all the experience one could wish for. Island Rigging and Hydraulics are distributors for Sta-Lok, Lewmar, Harken, Maxwell, and New England Ropes; as well as being authorised service centres for Navtec and Maxwell. They can tend to any rigging problems on board... have a press for rod rigging; a good stock of Wichard clips and shackles; plus Rondal, Reckmann, Hood and Profurl furling gear, and are agents for Eaton / Aeroquip hydraulic hoses, and Vickers (pumps and dials). Last year they expanded their hydraulics department further to meet the needs of todays increasingly ‘push button’ systems and successfully undertook some major hydraulic works including refit. They also continue to maintain good mutual networking relationships with FKG in St.Maarten, promoting continuity of expertise, technical support and parts resources between these two well respected hydraulics centres. Island Rigging and Hydraulics can fabricate new hoses up to 1 1/8" diameter, and effect repairs to all hydraulic steering systems, bowthrusters, Navtec cylinders, and pumps. Besides supplying a full range of running rigging, they do splicing, towing bridles, strappings, and any other custom work as required. Barbara Walters runs the office, and along with Jay, they make for a very efficient and technically competent business team; which continues to come repeatedly confirmed by numerous Captains every year.
