NAU-T-KOL - Trinidad

Based at the Shipwrights Building in the CrewsInn Complex, Nau-t-Kol has been run for many years now by the delightful couple, Jeff and Dawn Stone, whose business has to rate as one of the top refrigeration companies throughout the Caribbean. Jeff has had a background of refrigeration experience spanning 43 years, that includes having been one of the largest retailers of refrigeration systems in the US and he has now, more recently, ‘calmed down a bit’ and adopted more of a senior consultancy role within Nau-t-Kol, allowing his time served senior technician, Sherwin Durham, the opportunity to take over the ‘operational reigns’ on new installations / repairs and maintenance.

Jeff and Sherwin still work very closely together on new installation designs and practical refrigeration solutions and their continuing improvements have helped Jeff further perfect and develop his much acclaimed, innovative and extremely low power 'DC' refrigeration system, aptly named 'Stone Cold' (water + air cooled) or 'Stone Air' (Air cooled twin fan). Originally conceived for applications on small cruising yachts with no generators, these systems lend themselves perfectly to the larger charter sailing yachts who tend to have multiple refrigeration installations for drinks coolers / bar chillers etc.

One Captain interviewed had actually replaced his main DC fridge compressor with a Stone Cold system after some technical consultation with Jeff and Sherwin. The successful result was that he was able to transform his generator regime to be able to support his battery bank and be able to run a 'Quiet ship' on demand. A Stone Cold installation requires no extra ‘thru hull’ fittings, and the compressor is cooled both by air and by a water loop, plumbed into the ship's fresh water tanks. The Stone Air unit requires no through hull fittings at all and uses the exact power consumption as the 'Stone Cold.' Both air and water cooled units are very quiet and clean, with supremely frugal power consumption, and is effectively a 'zero maintenance' installation.
