DIVING
Having grown up diving on the island, and since been running his own business for the past 20 years, there's not too much owner Rick Rampaul doesn't know about diving here in Trinidad. Operating from its base at Tardieu Marine, the company is a full service PADI certified dive shop that offer 'Dive Tours' and the full range of PADI courses up to Divemaster. Rick is a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) and Divemaster himself. The shop has a fast fill compressor that can refill tanks in just 6-8 minutes, and they can carry out inspections and hydrotesting, regulator repairs / servicing, and compressor service work. Beyond this, they hope to have nitrox gas available for this season for deeper dives. They also offer underwater services for yachts, cleaning hulls, propellers and water intakes as required. The dive shop itself, has a good selection of masks, snorkels, fins, regulators, weights, tank buoyancy compensating devices, spear fishing accessories and also underwater 'scooters' in stock. A friendly chat with Rick, quickly reveals his wealth of knowledge for specialised dives where the local features are big pelagic fish. New for this year is an accessible wreck, the HMS Ocean located just behind Gasparee Island where one can see big Tuna, Cavalli, Tarpon and Kingfish.
