Connecticut

This is a state with a beautiful coastal region and lovely old towns with white church steeples rising above the horizon, as well as being the southern gateway to New England. It is a small state but offers a lot of variety for yachts sailing up the coast, along with shipyards for major refit works that include Derecktors in Bridgeport, and Brewer Yachts (with convenient proximity to New York City). The Delamar marina / hotel - situated just outside New York in Greenwich Harbor - provides a luxurious marina, and intimate hotel, on one of the finest waterfront sites in America, where every guest is pampered in complete comfort as they cater to the Superyacht clientele.

The Connecticut River Valley has a few river villages up the coast. The Essex Island Marina can accommodate large yachts, and is located on 13 acres of land, allowing their guests to enjoy the natural beauty of the island along with the resident animals that abound. The lower reaches of the Connecticut River are so unspoiled by development that they were on the list of ‘last great places’ in the Western Hemisphere. When visiting the Mystic Seaport museum you can see a re-creation of the life of the old sailing ship days which leads you back in time, as it was once a ship building and whaling center from the 17th to the 19th centuries, and is now still functioning as a working shipyard. The Connecticut coastline shares the waterways of Long Island Sound with a short distance between Long Island, Block Island and New York City.
