Through its wide network of offices in Mallorca, Barcelona, France, Malta and Antigua, and its global network of over 30 Partners, e3 provides extensive refit and repair services, communications and TV contracts, annual support contracts and operator training courses. One of their particular specialties is communications and they are exclusive distributors for the eVSAT Applications Platform which is a portfolio of VSAT products that includes the antenna, below decks equipment, service, applications, installation, training and support. They provide and manage all communication and TV services including e-mail and internet, land based GSM and 3G and their unique GSM at sea service eCell@Sea, VoIP, video conferencing, IPTV, weather information and routing, navigation and chart correction services, daily newspaper printing, telemedicine, and security and remote monitoring for all the equipment onboard.

The company was established to provide turnkey electrical solutions for sailing and motor yachts. Teams of electricians are already established in Palma, Barcelona, UK, Dubai and the South of France. ElectroMarine has been the service agency for Mastervolt chargers and inverters since Mastervolt was formed. This year has seen them adding two more prestigious agencies: Victron Energy, also a headliner in the power electronics field; and Whisper Power, a new name for an established product. The Whisper Power generators were being sold previously by Mastervolt but are now in the market under their own banner.

MarinaNet Wire have a team of highly qualified and experienced marine engineers who work to top standards. Their services include the design, installation and maintenance of all electrical systems aboard. Power generation and distribution, engine control and monitoring, light systems, and navigation are just some of the services they provide. The main focus is the installation of systems for a long lasting solution and water tightness. Specialised in finding ground and electronics fault and damage control, they have served many boats in 20 years of working in this field. Top test equipment as thermal cameras help finding errors fast and prevent the danger of fire. They have installed numerous chargers and battery banks with monitoring devices. All their work progress, reports and photos, is stored online which can be accessed by the engineer at any time. As one Captain told us last season: “Really superb electricians – just the best around, and totally committed”.
Navicomm are marine electrical/electronics specialists based above Port Adriano in the southwest of Mallorca. They offer their services to private owners, shipyards and manufacturers across the Balearics and further afield. Established in 1998 by Mark Wilson, Navicomm have since grown on the strength of repeat customers and a dedication to providing the best service possible. Last season saw us receiving another round of enthusiastic comments for their works, with one Captain saying: “Mark is 100% committed – great works all round”.
As authorised agents for many of the main brand names in communications, security and navigation systems, Navicomm offer a system design, installation and product support service, both during and after the official warranty period. They mainly work with the KVH range of satellite TV and communications products, and as main CSP (Certified Support Providers) dealers for KVH Industries, they offer a high level of installation and support to their clients.
Ongoing product training and investment has resulted in Navicomm becoming the service partner of choice for the majority of the KVH distributors. Navicomm also design and install custom entertainment systems including multi zone media storage and distribution product with integrated touch screen remote control solutions, all designed to meet the individual client’s requirements. For refit or new build projects Navicomm offer a complete design and consultancy service, working with the respective shipyard they strive to provide a tailored package and ensure the project is completed to specification. Mark stated that they only work with products they consider suitable to withstand the harsh marine environment, therefore, reinforcing their clients’ confidence in both the products and support provided. IB’s Marine Electric are a high service supplier of electronic components, electrical parts, industrial and maintenance. They carry out complete marine electrical fittings and installations; and take care of new installations and the refit of existing installations, as well as repairs, updates, automation, layouts, drawings and maintenance. They also deal with a wide range of electronic components: PLC systems, control and distribution panels, control and monitoring systems, generators, batteries and Atlas Shore Power systems. Further to which, they also inspect installations and check for corrosion, as well as examining all types of electrical systems and writing mandatory reports to guarantee the correct state of your yacht’s installations. Having extensive experience with offshore telecommunication systems and VSAT from Norway, in 2000, Jan Holmen decided to establish Maritime Network Systems S.L. (MNS). The aim was to offer Superyachts the best telecom solutions available. From mid 2007 MNS became part of the Norwegian GIS (General Industry Systems AS) group. As GIS’ Superyacht division, MNS have full access to GIS’ wide-ranging resources.
MNS are providing complete design and refit of Superyacht electronics systems. Their main systems are Satellite communications / telecom, entertainment, and navigation systems… and their works came consistently well recommended to us during the past year. Parallel to their Superyacht services, MNS have executed high profile projects to both the Royal Norwegian Navy and to the Norwegian oil company ‘Statoil’. Furthermore, MNS have performed VSAT related projects on over 30 cruise ships and numerous offshore vessels worldwide.
Maritime Systems was established eight years ago by Graham Bradley. Graham brings a lifetime of marine radio, radar and electronic technical expertise to the industry. From 13 years at sea with the Royal Navy followed by service in deep sea oil exploration vessels and onto supplying technical services to various middle eastern civil and military agencies. Located in the aptly named ‘The Radio Room’, a stones throw from both the STP and Astilleros shipyards, it houses a bewildering array a electronic test and measuring instruments. Services provided include equipment supply and installations, service, diagnostics, maritime surveillance aids, refit projects and technical authoring. One of the Captains recommendations we received for them last year, told us how: “Graham – of Maritime Systems – is amazingly knowledgeable”.
For any electrical / electronics works, this company came extremely well recommended to us as being a “highly efficient and knowledgeable contact to work with”. Company owner, Andy Ridyard, is a British graduate electrical and electronic engineer; chartered engineer (CEng) since 1988; who has more than 30 years professional experience – as a control systems engineer, through design consultant and project manager, to Managing Director of ‘high tech’ electronics manufacturing company, onwards to international patents holder.
He then went on to spend 2 years cruising the Med on his own yacht, fixing other yachts whilst market researching a new business opportunity. SeaSystems.biz was born out of this research in Summer 2009, to provide a new troubleshooting, repair and installation service for professionally crewed yachts. SeaSystems now have an ever growing Superyacht clientele market, and with Andy’s many years of experience he can tackle practically any of the hard problems and modification projects the Superyacht market requires. His services include: Genset, power and battery systems; AC/DC & shore power systems; marine electronics systems, plus any PC and PLC based systems from his industrial controls experience.
One Captain’s personal review for his services, tells the story well: “He’s very meticulous, knowledgeable and up to date in all electronics and electrical systems and his documentation relating to the work he’s done is invaluable. He’s just done work for us here in Antigua, and we’ve now assigned him for another project starting in Palma in May”. Echo Marine specialize in gyrocompass, autopilots, navigation electronics, TV systems and Satellite communications, and carry the Thuraya range of Satellite phones. They are agents for Furuno, Orbit, Seatel, C Plath and Anschutz gyrocompasses.
