About Tongatapu, Vava'u & Ha'apai Islands
Categories: About/General Information
Recommended by Captains time and time again as being “A ‘must stop’ – these islands are truly beautiful to visit!” There are 176 islands within the Kingdom of Tonga, and the waters surrounding the four main inhabited islands of Tongatapu, Ha’apai, Vava’u and ‘Eua offer (little known) world class deep sea fishing, whale watching / swims, prisitine diving and cave snorkeling and diving and, on stepping ashore, you soon see why Captain Cook named them ‘The Friendly Islands!’ Whilst Tongatapu offers the only facility for short term Superyacht berthing (see Marina / Docking section) Vava’u’s protected harbor at Neaifu is attracting more Superyachts each year, as the word spreads that Tonga has a great deal to offer visiting yachts. Between July and October, swimming with whales is a highlight with Tonga being one of the few places in the world where this activity is correctly monitored, under strict safety & security guidelines. Additional crew / guest activities include diving, surfing, kite surfing, ATV tours, vanilla farm visits, attending traditional feasts and visiting stunningly beautiful outlying private islands.
