South East Asia is a sub region of the world’s largest land mass, the Asian continent. It consists of countries geographically south of China, east of India, west of New Guinea and north of Australia. This extensive region is made up of mainland and thousands of islands; some with volcanic activity, some with every facility known to man and others so remote and uninhabited, they still await discovering!
SE Asia has become a popular cruising ground for yachts to be based due to the close proximity of other Asian countries for alternating seasons; the increasing availability of different services needed for yacht maintenance, marinas with superyacht facilities and the warm welcome that awaits crew, allowing for year round cruising.
Yachts can journey through a variety of nostalgic yachting destinations, echoing the bygone era of the British Empire, spanning from Hong Kong through the South China Sea to Borneo, down to Singapore then head north to Malaysia. Beyond this, yachts can then navigate North West towards the popular cruising grounds of Thailand and onto mysterious Myanmar.
Indonesia’s vast archipelago is made up of approximately 17,508 islands. The Republic shares maritime borders across narrow straits with Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines lying to the North, and Australia to the South. With further land borders neighboring Papua New Guinea and East Timor, the entire region has cultivated a rich history of maritime trading and social diversity since the early days of New World shipping.
