Abbaye Du Thoronet

Just under an hour’s drive from Toulon is the Abbaye du Thoronet. Founded in 1146, in the hinterland of the Var, le Thoronet is one of the most remarkable abbeys built by the Cistercian Order. The proportional purity, simplicity and sobriety of the architecture give it an austere beauty, in accordance with the spirituality advocated by St.Bernard. International concerts are held in the Abbaye from time to time.
